The AI-volution program aims to equip Indonesian youth (ages 19-24) with foundational knowledge and practical skills in AI. Through workshops, webinars, and self-paced learning, participants will explore AI’s potential to address local and global challenges, emphasizing ethical practices and community engagement.

The program is open to Indonesian citizens aged 19-24 who reside in or are willing to travel under their own expenses to one of the following locations: Jakarta,Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Pontianak, Makassar, or Padang. Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in AI and technology, commitment to participating in all program components, and a willingness to engage with the community.

The program runs from December 2024 to July 2025, with key phases including:

• Application & Selection: December 2024 – January 2025
• Virtual Learning Experience: January – February 2025
• In-Person Workshops: March – April 2025
• AI Ambassador Selection  Activities: May – July 2025

Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge in AI fundamentals, ethical considerations, and practical applications. The program includes hands-on workshops and collaborative discussions to enhance learning and foster critical thinking about the social impacts of AI.

AI Ambassador is an opportunity for selected participants of the program to share the knowledge they gained through the program and run an impactful event and session at American Space on AI-related topics.

AI Ambassadors will promote responsible AI practices, host workshops, and lead discussions within their communities. They will also engage with the broader AI network and organize community meetups at their assigned American Space.

By participating in the AI-volution program, you will become part of a movement to enhance AI literacy in Indonesia. You will empower your peers and community to embrace AI as a tool for positive change, addressing challenges like environmental sustainability and social equity.

No, participation in the program is completely free of charge. However, please note that the program does not cover any travel expenses to attend in-person events. Participants are responsible for their own transportation costs.

Yes, once you are selected, you will need to commit your time to join the virtual learnings and in-person workshop to complete the program.

To ensure we are giving opportunities to more youths, we will only select participants to each attend one in-person workshop only. 

You must be between 19 and 24 years old during the program dates, meaning you should have been born between January 1, 2000, and January 1, 2005.

While prior experience in AI is not mandatory, a demonstrated interest or experience in AI and technology, such as coursework, projects, or other relevant activities, will strengthen your application.

Applicants will be evaluated on their motivation for joining the program, relevant experience with AI or technology, plans for community engagement and knowledge sharing, and leadership and communication skills.

The application deadline is 31 December 2024, 23:59 (WIB, UTC+7). Be sure to submit all required information by this date.

The process includes:

• Filling out an application form with personal details, background, and responses to selection criteria.
• Answering multiple-choice and short essay questions.
• Submitting your application for review by our selection committee.

While AI tools can be useful, we encourage you to ensure your responses remain authentic. Your answers should reflect your true experiences, perspectives, and aspirations.

Yes, you can still apply, but attending the in-person workshop is essential to becoming an AI Ambassador. If selected, participants are expected to attend the workshop at one of six American Spaces. Travel expenses will not be covered, so please ensure you’re able to meet this commitment.

You are expected to attend all virtual workshops, complete the self-paced modules, and actively participate in activities and tasks. Engaged and committed participants will be considered for the in-person workshop, and then proposed community AI initiatives at American Spaces to be selected as AI Ambassadors.

Selected participants will be notified via email from AI-volution@biji-biji.com and announced through WhatsApp group for further steps. Make sure you check your email and WhatsApp group regularly.

We will support all travel needs and requirements for all the selected participants. This also includes providing a letter of support to the participant’s school or company to ensure they can take off during the in-person workshop period.

All webinars and in-person workshops will be conducted in Bahasa Indonesia to ensure accessibility and understanding for all participants; however, some materials will be provided in English.

To ensure attendance, we’ll provide an attendance form at the end of each webinar session. Make sure to fill it out to confirm your participation!

After participating in the onboarding session, you will be onboarded to our Learning Management System (LMS), where you can access and complete self-paced learning modules. After each webinar, you’ll be required to complete the related module and quizzes to reinforce your understanding. Please ensure all modules and quizzes are fully completed.

We suggest you pick the location closest to where you are currently residing. The program will not cover any travel expenses for you to go to the location, hence we encourage you to strategically apply to one closest to where you are. 

No, only 12 selected participants (2 from each American Spaces location) and submitted impactful community AI initiative proposals after the in-person workshop will be selected as AI Ambassadors.

After completing virtual workshops and in-person workshops, you will have to submit  a proposal of impactful community AI initiatives at American Spaces and may be chosen to become an AI Ambassador, leading community engagement.
